Calf Rearer – Cape Foulwind Farm

Schedule: Part-time (Thursdays and Fridays off) with the option to increase to full-time during busy periods

Details
As a Calf Rearer, you will help raise the next generation of high-performing dairy beef cattle. Your daily tasks will include feeding, weighing, drenching, and monitoring calves’ health and wellbeing. You may also assist with milking or general farm duties when needed.

This is a drive-in/drive-out position, so having your own transport is essential. You’ll work a minimum of twenty hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours during peak periods.

The Farm
Cape Foulwind Farm operates across 2,000 hectares near Westport, running over 11,500 stock units. The property focuses on rearing Friesian bulls, as well as Hereford and Angus calves, up to 100kg target weights. This spring, the team aims to rear around 550–600 calves using modern technology and high animal welfare standards.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Genuine care for animal health and welfare
  • Previous experience in calf rearing or farming (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Restricted or full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Reliable transport and accommodation
