FarmRight Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the operation and development of a large-scale apple orchard located in Pendarves, Ashburton, Canterbury. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a hands-on opportunity to contribute to one of New Zealand’s most advanced apple orchard projects.

The Maintenance Technician will play a vital role in ensuring all orchard machinery, vehicles, and equipment are operating efficiently. This position supports daily operations by performing routine maintenance, mechanical repairs, and infrastructure upkeep. Responsibilities

Service, repair, and maintain a wide range of orchard machinery, vehicles, and equipment.

Support the Machinery and Infrastructure Coordinator with maintenance of irrigation, fencing, sheds, and other facilities.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts used.

Prioritize work efficiently and respond promptly to urgent mechanical issues.

Operate orchard machinery as needed, including tractors, sprayers, and planting equipment.

Collaborate with team members and contractors to ensure smooth daily operations.

Uphold strict health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements

Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, ideally in agriculture or horticulture.

Strong mechanical knowledge across small petrol motors, large diesel engines, and irrigation systems.

Practical problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.

Experience operating farm or orchard equipment such as tractors or forklifts is an advantage.
