Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in road maintenance, concrete, or pavement construction role
  • Proficient knowledge of New Zealand/Australian roading standards
  • Positive, can-do attitude with strong work ethic
  • Strong people management and leadership qualities
  • Reliable and agile in approach to work
  • Ability to develop, motivate, and lead staff effectively
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to work in the field
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Available to work Monday – Saturday and night shifts as required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite monitoring of civil construction activities
  • Provide day-to-day management and supervision of field crews
  • Order materials and organize plant and personnel for each shift
  • Prepare sketches, charts, tabulations, and plans for civil engineering works including drainage and roads
  • Perform and direct fieldwork and laboratory testing
  • Interpret work assignment instructions, apply appropriate procedures, and select suitable equipment
  • Collect and analyze data, and carry out technical computations
  • Estimate material costs and ensure finished works meet specifications, regulations, and contract provisions
  • Inspect civil engineering works and organize and supervise maintenance and repair work
  • Conduct field and laboratory tests on construction materials and soils, and collect traffic survey data
  • Ensure quality, health, and safety aspects are completed to standard
  • Review project specifications thoroughly
  • Prepare ITP (Inspection and Testing Plans)
  • Ensure project specifications are satisfied and implemented
  • Implement contract quality plans
  • Undertake field tests such as CBR and Clegg Hammer tests, and compile results for submission
  • Prepare as-built drawings for completed works
  • Provide management, coordination, and supervision of assigned project works undertaken by labor or subcontractor resources
  • Monitor productivity targets onsite
  • Prepare daily job packs for field crews
  • Review site records completed by field supervisors
  • Undertake daily reviews of completed works against original program schedules
